CARRICK: RONALDO MAKES IT EASY
Michael Carrick was in jubilant mood after United's win over Newcastle, the city of his birth, and is settling in well at Old Trafford.
"It was a huge game, we needed a win," Carrick told Sky Sports News. "We were conscious before the game a win would take us back to the top and we are top of the Champions League and things are going well.
"To pick up a trophy [is the aim]. When you are at United, every competition you enter you want to win. It was a big reason why I came to the club and to do it in my first season would be special."
Ronaldo has won high praise this term and Carrick feels the Portuguese winger could be the man to help him fulfil his dreams.
"Cristiano is on fire, he improving all the time," declared Carrick. "The lads say that compared to last year, he has tightened up his game and is at a new level again.
"It is making my job in the midfield a lot easier, just giving him the ball and letting him do the rest.
"I am enjoying playing with him."
Meanwhile, Carlos Queiroz has recorded some soundbites sayign he's happy with Carrick's form and settling in period.
"Michael's adaptation is in good progression," he said. "It's not easy to arrive in the middle of our team and play immediately but our opinion is that he’s doing fantastically."
"It’s completely different to be in the middle of the park at Manchester and control the game and dictate the game with players like Wayne, Cristiano, Ji, Giggsy," said Queiroz.
"If you compare the front five of our team with that of Tottenham, it's completely different. So he is adapting his game very well to players he didn’t know until he arrived here."
