CARRICK TARGETS ENGLAND SPOT Michael Carrick has already beaten one ambition - to move to a top club, in the Champions League, and start playing at the top of his game. But with every ambition that is met, another takes its place - this time with Michael hoping to nail down a place in England's central midfield. He hopes his move to the largest club in the world will help him on his quest. “I hope (the move to Manchester United) will enhance my chances of forcing my way into the England team,” Carrick said. “If you’re playing on the biggest stage, like the Champions League, it is going to give you the best possible chance to perform at the highest level. “Of course, it’s up to me and how well I play, but I’d hope to be involved in the game against Andorra.” Speaking of his new club, Carrick was full of awe. “The basic set-up here is pretty much the same as at Spurs, but this is just such a massive club. “I had an idea of the size of it before I joined, but it just hits you when you arrive. The expectation is huge – and you have to win at all costs.”
